Each week, we'll be spotlighting one of the incredibly talented photographers who bring our Hank pieces to life through their beautiful imagery.
This series is our way of celebrating the people behind the lens. We've asked a few questions to learn more about their journey, what inspires their work, and of course, which Hank pieces they love most.
First up is the lovely Brooke from @the.honeycomb.studio

What's one piece of advice you'd give to someone just starting out in newborn or family photography?
The best advice I can give is to never stop learning. As someone who only started last year, this question feels very close to home for me. From the moment I stepped into newborn and family photography, I became obsessed with learning everything I could.I've taken in-person and online mentorships, watched countless tutorials, and reached out to other photographers whenever I felt stuck. Early on, I also did tons of model calls to get as much hands-on practice as possible. Even now, I continue to learn and grow every day-it's made such a difference in building my confidence going into sessions, knowing I have the tools and knowledge to create something beautiful no matter what.

Looking back, what's something you wish you'd known wher you first started your photography journey? I wish someone had told me how many amazing friendships ano connections I'd make through this industry. I never expected to find such a supportive, welcoming community. You'll never feel alone—there's always someone to bounce ideas off of, seek advice from, or simply be inspired by. The encouragement and camaraderie among photographers have been such a gift.
Honestly, I just wish l'd started sooner!

How would you describe your approach to working with newborns (or families) during a session? I approach newborn photography as a fully inclusive, stress-free experience for my families. From the moment they walk in, I want them to relax and simply enjoy the special moments we're about to capture. I keep prep simple and never overwhelm parents with too much to do ahead of time. During sessions, I move slowly and intentionally—I never rush. I take the time to build trust with siblings, allowing them to warm up naturally so we can capture those genuine smiles. My goal is always to go with the flow, follow baby's lead, and make adjustments as needed so everyone feels calm, comfortable, and cared for.

What inspires your photography style or the way you capture connection in your images? I'm deeply inspired by timeless, neutral tones-they allow the focus to remain on the family and their tiny, perfect baby. I love incorporating layers and textures to add warmth and depth to my sets. My style is a blend of both traditional posed newborn photography and relaxed, organic lifestyle imagery. When I first started, I couldn't decide which direction to take I loved them both, so I decided to combine the two-and I've loved it ever since. It's the best of both worlds: beautifully styled setups with authentic, emotional moments that truly tell a family's story.

What's one thing that has made the biggest difference to your business-whether it's a piece of equipment, a mindset shift, or a workflow habit? The biggest game-changer for me has been accepting that you can't control the session it's totally a mindset shift —baby is in control. You can plan and prep all you want, but ultimately, the baby sets the tone. Learning to adapt, pivot, and stay calm in the moment has been one of my biggest lessons. There are days that test your patience and confidence, but instead of dwelling on those moments, l've learned to reflect on them and grow from them.Every challenge is an opportunity to refine your craft, and that mindset has truly transformed my work and confidence as a photographer. When you feel like you want to give up, don't, continue to push through because you're about to make a breakthrough.
- What is your favourite or most used piece of Hank knitwear, and what do you love about it? I'm completely obsessed with all things HANK-the soft textures, the intricate details, the perfect fit— love it all! My most-used piece is definitely the Fern Collection in Cloud. The sweater set with its delicate edging and the matching fern bonnet are absolutely stunning, and they photograph beautifully. My clients always comment on how soft and luxurious the knits feel, and I love telling them they're handmade with so much care. On top of that, Penny is such a wonderful supporter of her photographer community-she engages, shares, encourages, and truly cheers us on. Her positivity and craftsmanship make her brand such a special part of the newborn photography community.
